Recent reports claim that defense and military ties between Russia and North Korea have expanded beyond missiles, nuclear warheads, and large ground troop deployments to encompass drone technology, missiles, and electronic or aerial warfare capabilities. Russia Agreed to transfer first batch of 4th Gen Su-27, and MiG-29 to North Korea expanding military cooperation amid rising US military Presence in Japan, South Korea and East Asia. In this context, it is reported that just as Russia has been integrating Belarus (in Europe), Iran (in the Middle East), and Cuba (in South America) into its strategic military, bilateral, and economic frameworks, it now aims to strengthen North Korea significantly in East Asia—in partnership with China—to enable the waging of a proxy war in the event of a future direct confrontation with Japan, South Korea, and the US.

Why U.S., UK and France losing influece or interests in Africa, Europe and Middle East?

In recent decades, Russia has been garnering significant political support from Syria, North Korea, Iran, and Cuba, as it still possesses the military strength, budget, and economic resources necessary to maintain its interests and influence globally. For now, the influence of Russian troops and Wagner groups is being observed in many African countries—particularly those where NATO nations, especially France, the UK, and the US, once maintained major bases and held dominance. While countries like the UK, France, and Germany—along with Italy, Spain, and Poland—previously played significant roles as NATO allies, the outbreak of the Ukraine-Russia war has caused the alliance to fracture completely; Turkey, Iran, China, and Russia have benefited the most from this situation.

Why South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Philippines spending billions on U.S. Weapons to counter Russia, China and North Korea?

However, in recent years, significant trust has developed between Russia and North Korea regarding the sharing of defense technology and collaboration on missile and drone systems. This has triggered considerable military activity among East Asian nations—such as Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and Taiwan—because, given North Korea’s possession of nuclear weapons, none of these countries wishes to initiate a direct conflict; consequently, they are increasingly bolstering the US military presence in the region. U.S. officials in East asia, fears that the Russia agreed to hand over MiG-29 and Su-27 fighter jets to North Korea will increase the US/Russia Arm race in the region.

Why South Korea, Japan and Taiwan has not trust the security guarantees provided by the US if a war breakout with Russia, China or North Korea?

Ever since North Korea demonstrated its nuclear warhead capabilities to the world, East Asian nations have significantly increased their spending on U.S. defense equipment; however, following instances where Iran challenged U.S. air defenses, missiles, and strategic capabilities during conflicts in the Middle East, these countries have become somewhat less reliant on the U.S., even though they continue to collaborate with the United States on various defense projects. The way Iran has targeted American bases across the Middle East demonstrates that North Korea, Russia, and China—who are currently developing advanced defense and missile technologies—could adopt a similar strategy in the future, potentially endangering the thousands of American soldiers stationed in East Asia. However, the way Russia has supplied advanced fighter jets like the Su-27 and MiG-29 to North Korea indicates that, in the future, North Korea could also manufacture some of the world’s most select 4th and 5th-generation fighter jets—developments that would prove highly beneficial for Russia and China. It is being reported that there is a possibility of war breaking out between China and Taiwan in the near future; consequently, North Korea could provide China with significant backup in the form of aerial and ground forces as well as advanced drones.
