A recent major report claims that, amidst growing maritime threats from China, Russia, and North Korea, Japan will now manufacture world-class domestic drones, missiles, and ammunition; this development could potentially turn Japan into a major battleground in a future indirect conflict between the US and China. Japan says, it will increase the defense budget for advanced lethal arms, radar, defense systems, and ammunition including nuclear weapons amid growing risks from China, North Korea and Russia. US and Japan knows, more than 60,000 US army soldiers are deployed near China in Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture. The US would prefer that Japan purchase American munitions rather than manufacturing its own air defense systems, missiles, radar, drones, and aircraft; this would enable the US and Japan to jointly engage in an indirect conflict against North Korea, Russia, and China in the future—a scenario that would yield significant benefits for the US and Western nations.

Why Japan fears the North Korea’s nukes, Chinese PLA Navy, and Russian interference in North Korea?

Following the nuclear attacks by the US (During World War 2), Japan curtailed its nuclear arsenal, lethal weaponry, drone capabilities, and defense spending to focus instead on national development, progress, and employment; however, Japan now realizes that North Korea’s possession of nuclear bombs poses a grave threat to Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Although these nations had sought to prevent North Korea from acquiring such weapons, intelligence failures on the part of the US and Europe allowed North Korea to obtain them—creating what is now the single greatest threat to the sovereignty of East Asian nations. The Ukraine-Russia and Iran conflicts have made it abundantly clear to Japan that, for the sake of its defense and national sovereignty, it must rely on itself rather than solely on other nations; this ensures that, in the future, it can counter any retaliatory strikes using its own weaponry instead of having to rely on purchasing arms from other countries.

Will North Korea, China and Russia strikes US soldiers or US bases In Japan, Taiwan and South Korea?

Meanwhile, the US has deployed its largest-ever military contingent in Japan—numbering around 60,000 troops—which creates a situation where North Korea, Russia, or China could launch attacks on Japanese soil, targeting the US presence there. Even though the US and Europe may pledge to defend Japan, the country has learned a significant lesson from the conflicts involving Ukraine and Iran; Iran has stockpiled hundreds of thousands of missiles, drones, and munitions over the years—a buildup that has caused sleepless nights for America, the Gulf states, and Israel. Similarly, in the context of modern global warfare, Japan will also need to ramp up the production of drones, missiles, and ammunition to counter nations like North Korea, China, and Russia in both direct and indirect conflicts—including maritime proxy wars.

Japan will join indirect or direct wars in between North-South Korea, and China-Taiwan by 2035.

It has recently been reported that the Yellow Sea, East China Sea, Philippine Sea, South China Sea, and Sea of Japan in East Asia will play a major role in potential conflicts involving Taiwan-China and North Korea-South Korea, necessitating involvement similar to the Iran-US and NATO-Russia scenarios. This is because, amidst the recent Russia-Ukraine war, numerous major incidents involving both the Russian and Ukrainian sides have been observed in the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea, and the North Sea. However, for now, the US and Western nations are aware that China cannot go to war even if it wanted to; yet, if China were compelled to invade Taiwan, a direct/indirect war between the US and China in East Asia could become a possibility in the future.
