Recently, multiple reports have claimed that peace talks had started between Iran and the US, after which till now, there has been no agreement between the US and Iran on Lebanon Peace, US-Iran Ceasefire, Nuclear Enriched Uranium, and Strait of Hormuz, due to which the US and Iranian delegations have now returned from Islamabad to their respective countries. After which, Trump has threatened that the US Navy can launch a major operation to clear the Strait of Hormuz of sea mines laid by Iran, in which oil tankers, commercial vessels, and passenger ships from all over the world can be targeted because the US wants to continue bombing the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian nuclear sites, and Iran till Iranian surrender.

6+ Main Points of Disagreement between the US and Iran during the Islamabad talks:

  • Iran’s Nuclear Program — This was the most frequently cited deal-breaker.
    • The US insisted on verifiable commitments to halt uranium enrichment, surrender or transfer highly enriched uranium stockpiles (possibly to a third party or IAEA), and strict limits/monitoring to prevent any path to a nuclear weapon.
    • Iran insisted on its “right” to a peaceful nuclear program, including domestic uranium enrichment for civilian purposes (as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty). Its 10-point proposal did not include surrendering nuclear ambitions or capabilities. Iran viewed US demands as effectively requiring abandonment of its program entirely.
  • Strait of Hormuz — A critical new flashpoint for these talks.
    • The US pushed for unrestricted global access and reopening of the strait (through which ~20% of the world’s oil passes), amid reports of disruptions and US actions like “clearing” it.
    • Iran sought to maintain or assert control/rights over the strait, including potential authority to regulate or charge vessels, as part of its 10-point plan. This emerged as a “serious disagreement.
  • Lebanon Ceasefire and Regional Issues —
    • Iran demanded a full ceasefire in Lebanon (including an end to Israeli strikes on Hezbollah, its ally) and inclusion of its “regional allies” or “Islamic Resistance” in any broader de-escalation.
    • The US and Israel maintained that the initial ceasefire did not cover Lebanon/Hezbollah operations, treating it as separate. Iran also sought an end to broader regional conflicts involving proxies.
  • Sanctions, Assets, and Reparations —
    • Iran demanded lifting of all US/UN sanctions, release of frozen assets (tens of billions, including in Qatar and elsewhere), and compensation/war reparations for damage from US-Israeli strikes.
    • The US appeared open to some sanctions relief in exchange for nuclear and behavioral concessions, but tied it to verifiable Iranian compliance, rejecting full lifting without major Iranian concessions.
  • Other Broader Demands — Iran’s 10-point proposal included US withdrawal of combat forces from the region, non-aggression guarantees, and recognition of its enrichment rights. The US’s reported 15-point counter-proposal included limits on Iran’s missile program, ending support for regional proxies (e.g., Hezbollah, Houthis), and stricter nuclear curbs. These frameworks had limited overlap.

Actually, some people and Israel believed that ceasefire talks should be started with Iran so that it can be known how many missiles, drones, and air defenses Iran still has so that it can be known how much military equipment Iran still has, so that it can again attack the US, Arabs, and Israel. If Iran accepts all the conditions of the US during the Islamabad talks, then the US and Israel will come to know that Iran is now completely ruined, and Iran itself wants peace with the US and Israel. Because such a pattern was tried by the US many times in the Afghanistyan war, through which it was the biggest way to find out the military and financial condition of Russia and Taliban so that if a country is completely ruined internally, then it may be forced to bow down before the US and Israel and it will agree to accept every condition put forward by America and Israel. But some reports have said that Iran still has thousands of its own missiles and drones along with Russian and Chinese-made weapons, through which Iran is capable of fighting the US for 10 years.
